The accident occurred late Friday night in the Shivaji Nagar area of Dindori taluka. The victims were returning home from a gathering at a banquet hall near Shivajinagar when the mishap took place.

Driver lost control, vehicle fell into well

The family was driving in a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) when the driver lost control and veered off the road. The vehicle then plunged into a nearby water-filled well. The deceased have been identified as Sunil Dattatreya Dargode (34), his wife Reshma (30), their daughter Rakhi alias Gunvanti (10), and nieces Madhuri (13) and Shravani (11).

Rescue efforts

NDRF, fire brigade teams involved in rescue operation

The rescue operation was launched immediately after the incident. Police, local administration, fire brigade, disaster management teams, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were involved in the effort. However, the fully submerged vehicle made it difficult to carry out operations. It took hours before cranes could pull the vehicle out of the well.

Dindori police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident. Initial indications suggest loss of control by the driver, but further details are awaited. All victims were part of the same extended family.
