Cyclone Ditwah puts Tamil Nadu on alert, disrupts flights

India

Cyclone Ditwah has brought heavy rain to coastal Tamil Nadu, putting the state on high alert.
While the IMD says the cyclone will move north and skip making landfall in Tamil Nadu, weather chaos led to 47 flight cancelations at Chennai Airport and travel headaches for many.

What else is happening?

Districts like Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, and Thanjavur are bracing for more downpours. Southern Railway is also prepping to avoid major delays.
Meanwhile in Sri Lanka, the cyclone's impact has been devastating—over 150 people lost their lives and thousands of homes were destroyed.
India has stepped up with Operation Sagar Bandhu to send help across the sea.
