Dehradun cops nab 2 accused in retired Brigadier's murder

In a dramatic turn of events, Dehradun Police have arrested two suspects involved in the murder of retired Army brigadier Mukesh Kumar Joshi. The arrests came after an encounter on Friday night, during which one suspect was injured. The police had received a tip-off about the suspects' whereabouts near Johri village and chased them into the Guniyal village forest area.

Details of the encounter

The injured suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Mohammad Kavish Hussain Tyagi from Muzaffarnagar. The second arrested suspect is 21-year-old Shantanu Tyagi from Saharanpur. Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal said the encounter turned violent when another suspect fired at the police team. In self-defense, officers shot the accused in the leg and recovered a pistol from the scene.
