Delhi excise policy case: Kejriwal, Sisodia discharged by court
India
A Delhi court has cleared AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and 21 others in the high-profile Delhi Excise Policy case.
The judge said there just wasn't enough solid evidence for the corruption or conspiracy charges that had been making headlines since 2022.
What led to the case
The case started when officials accused Sisodia of policy violations that supposedly cost the city over ₹580 crore.
The CBI also claimed ₹100 crore in kickbacks went to AAP leaders from Hyderabad's "South Group" to fund election campaigns.
But in the end, the court said there "was no overarching conspiracy or criminal intent in the excise policy."
Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and 21 others were discharged from the case.
