Delhi's dengue and malaria cases drop sharply
India
Good news for Delhi—mosquito-borne diseases have taken a dive this year.
Only 58 dengue and 22 malaria cases were reported last week, with total dengue numbers at 1,257 so far—way down from over 4,500 at this point in 2024.
Malaria is also slightly lower, with 671 cases compared to 728 last year.
Cold weather slows the spread—but some risks remain
The sharp decline is thanks to chilly weather; minimum temperatures around 10°C make it tough for mosquitoes to survive or breed.
Still, there have been two confirmed dengue deaths this year, and another 13 are under review by health officials—so while things look better overall, staying cautious matters.
