Delhi's ₹2,388 crore dust pollution mitigation plan

India

Delhi just rolled out a massive ₹2,388 crore plan to tackle road dust over the next 10 years. Announced by the Chief Minister, the project will use 250 water sprinklers with anti-smog guns and 70 mechanical sweeping machines—all aimed at making city air cleaner for everyone.

How the plan will be executed

The Public Works Department will cover 1,400km of main roads, cleaning in three shifts every day. The Delhi Jal Board is pitching in with free treated water to run the sprinklers. After some initial pushback from the city's municipal body, things are finally moving forward. Plus, an IIT Kanpur study found that mechanical sweeping really helps cut down harmful PM-10 dust—so there's solid science behind this move.
