High Court grants Choksi permission to withdraw plea

India

Fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi has been allowed by the Bombay High Court to withdraw his challenge against a non-bailable warrant tied to the massive Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud.
His lawyer, Vijay Aggarwal, explained that this move was needed since the warrant had already been acted on after a request from the CBI.

Choksi in jail in Belgium

Choksi, who's currently in jail in Belgium, now plans to try other legal routes. The court had earlier asked for him to show up in India if he wanted legal help.
Meanwhile, investigations into the ₹14,000 crore PNB scam—where Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi are main accused—are still ongoing.
Another related case involving a co-accused is set for hearing soon.
