India denies claims of aiding US in Iranian ship attack
India is firmly denying rumors that it provided any assistance to the US for the recent attack on an Iranian warship.
An Indian naval officer called the accusations "baseless," saying India had not provided any assistance to US authorities or the US military when the IRIS Dena was sunk off Sri Lanka on March 4.
He also clarified that existing India-US communication and logistics agreements do not automatically apply to such situations.
Attack killed at least 87 Iranian sailors
The US attack killed at least 87 Iranian sailors as the IRIS Dena was heading home from a joint naval exercise in India, making things even more tense between the US and Iran.
At a global event in Delhi, an Iranian minister criticized the US for targeting what he described as an "unarmed" ship.
The whole situation is a reminder of how complicated (and risky) international waters are getting these days.
