Kullu village fire destroys homes, families left homeless
India
A huge fire swept through a village in Kullu's Banjar area on Monday, destroying at least 12 homes and four fodder stores.
Many families have lost their houses just as winter sets in.
The traditional wooden Kath-Kuni houses, built close together, made it easier for the flames to spread.
Firefighters struggled to reach spot
Firefighters struggled to reach the spot because of strong winds and no proper road access.
Thankfully, no one was hurt—Banjar MLA Surender Shourie said the blaze is now under control—but property damage runs into lakhs.
Local teams are setting up temporary shelters as temperatures keep dropping.
An investigation is on to find out what started the fire.
