Meghalaya honeymoon murder: 5 people, including wife, charged

India

Meghalaya Police have filed a 790-page chargesheet against five people—including businessman Raja Raghuvanshi's wife Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha—over Raja's murder during his honeymoon in May.
The group faces charges of murder, conspiracy, and destroying evidence under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita law.

Suspects were hired to kill Raja

Investigators say Sonam was present as hired hitmen killed Raja near Weisawdong Falls; he'd gone missing just days after arriving in Meghalaya with Sonam.
Police tracked down all five main suspects across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh by early June. Three others were also arrested for helping cover up the crime.
Raja's family says they're satisfied with the investigation so far but want the death penalty for everyone involved.
