Modi proposes labs to certify natural farm products
The government is considering establishing labs to officially certify natural (chemical-free) farm products, making it easier for these goods to compete internationally, something only organic produce could do until now.
Prime Minister Modi shared the news at an agriculture webinar, highlighting that a unified approach is needed so Indian farmers can meet global standards and reach bigger markets.
Focus on high-value crops and boosting 'Blue economy'
The new budget is all about boosting high-value crops like cashew, cocoa, and sandalwood, plus reviving coconut farming in places like Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
There's also a push for better edible oils, pulses, and even fisheries, with Modi encouraging fresh business ideas to grow India's "Blue Economy."
As he put it, there is growing interest in holistic healthcare and organic diets, so it's time for Indian farmers to get ready for global demand.
