What's the story

The Noida Police have solved the case of a woman's headless body found in a drain. The victim was identified as Preeti Yadav, whose dismembered remains were discovered on November 6 in Sector 108. The investigation led to Monu Solanki, Preeti's lover and a bus driver from Baraula, India Today reported. Monu confessed to the crime during interrogation on November 14.

Murder motive

Monu's confession reveals motive behind murder

Monu alleged that Preeti used to blackmail him for money and threatened to expose their relationship to his wife and children. Unable to bear the pressure, he decided to kill her. On November 5, they argued at a roadside eatery, after which Monu attacked Preeti with a sharp-edged weapon he was carrying.

Body disposal

Monu's gruesome act and body disposal

After killing Preeti, Monu severed her head and hands to prevent identification. He dumped the body in a drain in Sector 108. The head and hands were taken to Ghaziabad, where they were crushed under his bus before being disposed of. Police have recovered the weapon used in the murder and seized Monu's bus, which had a blood-stained mat inside it.

Investigation

How police nabbed accused

After the headless body was found, over 5,000 CCTV cameras were scanned, more than 1,000 vehicles were tracked, and drivers of 44 suspicious vehicles were questioned over the course of a week. Eventually, a bus heading toward the crime scene caught the police's eye, which bore the registration number UP16KT0037. It was being driven by Monu, a resident of Baraula. It was around the same time that the police received information about a woman named Preeti missing for 5-6 days.
