    Woman, who accused Amazon delivery executive of molestation, withdraws complaint
  • Recently, a Noida woman had alleged that a delivery executive for Amazon hypnotized her and attempted to rape her.

    While Noida police have detained the delivery executive, the woman did not turn up to record her statement despite being asked twice on Thursday, the police said.

    She has also said that she wants to withdraw the case.

  • The woman had alleged that the delivery agent, Bhupendra Pal (30), arrived at her flat on Monday to collect a consignment of returned items.

    However, she said Pal refused to take the complete consignment and an argument followed.

    The woman approached Amazon customer care after Pal left, however, the latter returned, fuelling another argument.

    He then allegedly hypnotized her and attempted to rape her.

  • Pal was booked under IPC Sections 376 (rape) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offenses punishable with imprisonment for life).

    Pal reached the police station upon being summoned and denied the allegations.

    Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Noida, Vineet Jaiswal told PTI that the woman did not turn up to record her statement.

    Jaiswal told Hindustan Times that she also refused a medical examination.

  • Jaiswal said, "She told police she wants to withdraw the case, saying the complaint was made by her sister and not her."

    He added, "[Pal] was questioned and left because there's no evidence against him. Moreover, he had been there twice to collect the product and the woman spoke to the Amazon customer care to get the issue resolved, which doesn't quite add up."

  • Further, a spokesperson for Amazon said, "Safety is of utmost importance to us and these allegations are troubling. We are taking immediate action with our delivery service provider and police as they investigate."
