Odisha gears up for Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra
Jagannath Rath Yatra, one of India's biggest festivals, returns to Puri, Odisha from June 27 to July 5. Preparations are in full swing, with three giant chariots being built for Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. The celebrations started with Snana Purnima on June 11 and will run till Anavasara on June 26.
Massive wooden chariots being built
Each chariot is a massive wooden structure—Nandighosa (16 wheels) for Jagannath, Taladhwaja (14 wheels) for Balabhadra, and Darpadalana (12 wheels) for Subhadra—ready to roll the deities to their aunt's place at Gundicha Temple. Authorities are also running security drills to keep the event safe.
