South Western Railways prepares pre-feasibility report for Bengaluru suburban railway
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the South Western Railways has prepared a pre-feasibility report for the long-pending Bengaluru suburban railway. The report envisages an investment of Rs. 12,000 crore for the 168-kilometer network, nearly half of which will be elevated, the Minister said. He also announced that Railways will invest Rs. 75,000 crore on a signaling system project to be implemented pan-India.
Will bring modern technology of Europe to India: Goyal
The Minister said that he will bring the state-of-the-art technology of European Train Control System in India. The modern technology will be implemented across the country that will ensure a safe journey, he added. Goyal also said the railways will invest Rs. 5,000 crore for upgrading stations and bringing in the most modern locomotives rail coaches. In December 2017, 476km-long tracks were renewed.
