  • Sukhvinder, a wrestling coach, who allegedly killed five people in Haryana's Rohtak on Friday has been arrested in Delhi.

    He was held near the Samaypur Badli Metro station in Delhi around 2:30 pm on Saturday in a joint operation carried out by the Delhi Police and the Haryana Police, Rohtak Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma told PTI.

  • Sukhvinder, 30, is currently in Delhi Police's custody and being interrogated by the cops.

    He will be brought to Haryana on a production warrant.

    "The Delhi Police will produce him in a court on Sunday there and after that he will be brought here," Sharma told PTI.

    Earlier, the Haryana Police had announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh for sharing information about Sukhvinder.

  • On Friday, five were killed and two others injured in a firing incident at a wrestling venue adjacent to a private college in Rohtak.

    Among those who died were a college employee Manoj Malik, his wife Sakshi Malik, a wrestling coach, Satish, and a woman player.

    The injured included a four-year-old son of Manoj and Sakshi, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

  • SP Sharma told reporters that Sukhvinder had been working as a wrestling coach at the college's gymnasium.

    However, after receiving some complaints, Manoj Malik had terminated his services.

    "Prima facie, because of this grudge, he (Sukhvinder) committed the crime (sic)," said Sharma.

    The police are collecting evidence from the crime scene and the CCTV footage is also being recovered, he further informed.

  • As per the investigation conducted thus far, Sukhvinder did not have any licensed weapon.

    "The post-mortem of the dead is going on. Anything can be said about the number of bullet injuries only after the post-mortem. Before this, it will be very difficult to say how many shots were fired," Sharma said when inquired about the number of bullets fired.

  • Sukhvinder is the younger of two siblings. After completing his graduation and a one-year course at the National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala, he started working as a wrestling coach in Jaat College, Rohtak. He is separated from his wife and had been living alone.
