Here's why UNICEF India is praising Yogi Adityanath's government

UNICEF India on Wednesday appreciated the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath, for successfully immunizing every child in the state against Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome. In February 2018, the government had launched the Dastak programme aimed at immunizing every child under 15 years of age. The campaign also aimed to carry out widespread sanitation and awareness programme.

What UNICEF tweeted about the Uttar Pradesh government

Over 32 lakh kids were vaccinated under Dastak programme

The vaccination drive was carried on by health workers, teachers, and Asha employees. They went door-to-door vaccinating kids and spreading awareness sanitation. Nodal agencies and other departments were set up at the affected 38 districts. Japanese encephalitis is a vector-borne disease, hence, teaching about cleanliness was equally important. Reportedly, 32,03,785 children under 15 years of age were vaccinated under the Dastak programme.
