What's the story
A government resolution released on Thursday said 1,231 guards will be deployed at 14 medical colleges of the state in order to provide better security to the doctors. This additional security is expected to cost the state approximately Rs. 33.77 crore. The security will be offered by the Maharashtra State Security Corporation. Kashmiri teen, victim of pellet guns, recovers partial eyesight
On 9th March, 18-year-old Kashmiri Yasir Fayaz Rah, was caught in the middle of a violent clash between protesters and the armed forces in Anantbag district, Kashmir. He was shot using pellet guns and lost his vision in both eyes. After being treated by corrective surgery for his left eye, Yasir has regained his vision partially. His right eye would be operated this Saturday.

CST, Bandra-Worli Sea Link to go blue for autism awareness
In association with a parents' support-group 'Forum For Autism' (FFA), Central Railways will hold a series of awareness programs coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day on Sunday. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) will be lit in blue on Saturday and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link will have blue lights on Sunday evening. Throughout April, an audio-visual program about autism will be screened at the terminus.

Wadala's promenade to be thrice the size of Marine Drive
Mumbai's eastern shore is expected to undergo a major revamp, following which the promenade at Wadala is expected to be three times the size of Marine Drive. Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) has decided to create a recreation zone on the port land. MbPT Chairman Sanjay Bhatia said the Wadala promenade will be close to a central garden, four times the size of Oval maidan.

South Mumbai to have heritage walks soon
On Thursday, Maharashtra Tourism Minister Jaykumar Rawal said heritage walks would soon be conducted around the premiere tourist spots in South Mumbai. The minister also said that his department would identify such tourist spots such as the Gateway of India, Marine Drive etc. He further added that 20 forts across Maharashtra have been short-listed by his department for tourists and history lovers.

Government to probe illegal tree-cutting since 2010
The Maharashtra government has decided to investigate cases of alleged illegal tree felling. Between 2010-2015, approximately 25,000 permissions for tree-cutting were sanctioned by the government, which will now be probed by the municipal corporations. In the probe, the corporations will investigate whether specified conditions for tree felling were fulfilled or violated. CM Devendra Fadnavis said those found guilty of violations "will not be spared."

South Bombay's water most contaminated, Kandivali's least
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) ward-wise data for April 2016-February 2017, Ward 'A' (Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Fort etc.) has the highest-level of contaminated water (9.39%) This was followed by Mulund (7.65% contaminated water), and then Parel (6.81% contaminated water). Kandivali recorded the least amount of water contamination (0.34%). Malad and Andheri, too, had exceptionally low water-contamination levels (1.16% each).
