Star-studded BJP now welcomes Aashiqui actor Rahul Roy
Actor Rahul Roy has joined BJP in the presence of parliamentary affairs minister, Vijay Goel at the party's headquarters in Delhi. Roy tasted over-night success with his first film, the 1990 blockbuster Aashiqui, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Roy, who hasn't been seen on the big screen for some time now, called it a significant day for him. Who is Rahul Roy? Know more!
After Aashiqui's success, Roy signed 47 films in about 11 days. However, after a string of flops, Roy disappeared from the scene. He claims to have veered towards spirituality. In 2006, he appeared and won the first season of Bigg Boss. He was also honored with life membership of the International Film and Television Club of Asian Academy of Film & Television.
Since 2006, Roy was trying to resurrect his acting career with forgettable films like 'Naughty Boy', 'Sabse Bada Mujrim' etc. Roy also tried his hand at movie production with the movie 'Elaan' in 2011. However, after failing to make a mark in acting/production, Roy has now joined BJP. He praised PM Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah for changing India's perception in the world.
Meanwhile, BJP boasts of many film stars who have also tasted success in politics. Hema Malini, Kirron Kher, Paresh Rawal, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, textiles minister Smriti Irani, BJP's Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan are big names from tinsel town.
