Akash Vijayvargiya: News

Akash Vijayvargiya is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician and member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He is the son of Kailash Vijayvargiya, senior leader and National General Secretary of the BJP. In the December 2018 State Assembly Elections in Madhya Pradesh, Vijayvargiya successfully contested from the Indore-3 constituency, defeating Ashwin Joshi of the Indian National Congress (INC). He made headlines in 2019 when he hit a municipal officer with a cricket bat in Indore during a demolition drive. The officer had arrived to demolish a building as part of a larger municipal drive to raze down dilapidated structures in order to prevent any mishaps. After a complaint, Vijayvargiya was arrested for a brief period, and then let out on bail. He was admonished for his act by none less than Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a meeting of BJP Members of Parliament. Vijayvargiya was also issued a notice by his party regarding the incident.
