What's the story

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's visit to the United Kingdom has drawn criticism from opposition party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The DMK accused Vijay of prioritizing a car race over state matters. The CM had gone to the UK on an official visit to attract foreign investment and explore sports facilities for a proposed Motor Sports City near Chennai.

DMK's criticism and TVK's defense

DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan slammed Vijay's trip, saying he had gone to see his friend Ajith Kumar's car race instead of focusing on state issues.

DMK MLA Markandeyan also criticized the visit, citing ongoing problems in Tamil Nadu.

However, Vijay's party, TVK, defended him. TVK spokesperson Americai V Narayanan said meeting Ajith added value to brand Tamil Nadu and dismissed DMK's criticism as "small silly talk."
