Keshari Nath Tripathi is an Indian politician who was the former Governor of West Bengal from July 2014-July 2019. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and had additional charge for a short period as governor of Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Bihar. Tripathi was the former President of BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit and the speaker of the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly for three terms. Tripathi was born on November 10, 1934, in Uttar Pradesh and was a member of the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly six times. Tripathi has also registered five consecutive wins from the Dakshin Prayagraj seat. Apart from politics, he also practiced as a Senior Advocate at Allahabad High Court. He has an interest in writing poems and has published several books. His two anthologies titled ‘Aayu Pankh,’ and ‘Manonukriti,’ are known as his chief literary works. Tripathi is still remembered for his commentary on the Representation of People Act, 1951. He is also actively involved in the Hindi poets gathering that takes place both nationally and internationally.
