Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its performance in the Delhi Assembly election as Election Commission data indicated a clear win for the saffron party. Till Saturday afternoon, the BJP had won 25 seats and was leading in 23 others, crossing the halfway mark of 36 needed to form a government in the 70-member assembly. PM Modi rejoiced the victory on X saying "development (and) good governance won."

AAP concedes defeat, BJP promises comprehensive development

"We guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned to ensure the all-round development of Delhi and to make the lives of its people better. Along with this, we will also ensure that Delhi plays an important role in building a developed India," he assured. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could only win 11 seats and was leading on 12 more. Top AAP leaders such as Kejriwal, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Manish Sisodia lost their respective seats.
