Android and Linux users can finally unlock AirPods's coolest features
Good news—if you've got AirPods but don't use an Apple device, there's now a free app called LibrePods that lets you tap into advanced features like ear detection, head gestures, and more.
Created by Kavish Devar, LibrePods bridges the gap by reverse-engineering Apple's system so your AirPods can talk to your Android or Linux device.
What you get (and what to know)
LibrePods brings handy perks like lowering your music when you start talking (conversational awareness), easy noise control switching, and detailed battery info.
It works with all AirPods models—though full features are best on AirPods Max or newer Pros.
Heads up: on Android, most phones need to be rooted with Xposed framework for everything to work smoothly.
If you're using a recent OnePlus or OPPO phone, you can skip rooting but will have fewer customization options until you do.
