Android June 2026 update adds WhatsApp backup controls on phones
Google just dropped its June 2026 system updates for Android, bringing smoother performance, bug fixes, and some handy new features across phones, tablets, Wear OS watches, and Google TV.
The headline? You can now manage your WhatsApp backups right from your device settings on phones. No more digging around in the app.
Google Play Store and system changes
The update also makes viewing or updating the Google Contacts sync setting easier and fixes Wallet bugs on both phones and smartwatches.
Over on the Play Store, you can now get a "Trusted" badge on your Google Play Store reviews if you are eligible for the Trusted Contributor program and opt in, a new Play Labs section to try experimental features early, and better parental controls with PINs.
Earlier this month, Google rolled out import and export of passwords and passkeys between Google Password Manager and third-party password managers with the Credential Exchange standard, plus a new AI search tool called "Ask Play."
