Anthropic's Claude now generates higher revenue per user than ChatGPT
Claude, the AI app from Anthropic, is out-earning ChatGPT when it comes to revenue per user: $2.76 for Claude versus $1.74 for ChatGPT, according to Sensor Tower.
Even though ChatGPT reached 1 billion monthly users by May 2026, its market share has dropped sharply from 81% in March 2024 to under 50%, as competition heats up in the AI space.
Claude converts 13% of iOS users
Claude's premium-only model ($20-a-month) converts 13% of iOS users into subscribers, beating ChatGPT's 8% conversion rate on its cheaper $8-a-month plan.
Claude's market share doubled in just two months, helped by backlash against ChatGPT's Pentagon contract that led many users to uninstall it.
Meanwhile, Google's Gemini is also growing fast and cut its Plus plan price to $5-a-month, while Sensor Tower projects $4.25 billion in AI app expenditure in the first half of 2026, so this race is just getting started.
