Apple Vision Pro sped tear duct surgeries in 32-case study
A fresh study out today (August 6, 2026) suggests Apple's Vision Pro headset might seriously boost how efficiently some eye surgeries are done.
In the research, surgeons performed 32 tear duct operations, half with regular monitors and half using the Vision Pro, and found surgeries went noticeably faster with the headset.
Vision Pro cuts surgeries 8 minutes
On average, procedures with Vision Pro took about 8 minutes less than those with traditional monitors (34.4 minutes vs. 42.7 minutes), and all were successful without any issues.
Surgeons also said they felt less tired and physically strained thanks to the headset's comfortable design, which streams live camera feeds right into their line of sight: no more awkward head-turning to check monitors.
Researchers say larger clinical trials will be needed before hospitals consider adopting the technology on a wider scale, but these early results look pretty promising.
