Apple's XR product roadmap: Vision Pro, Air and XR glasses
Apple is gearing up to refresh its Vision Pro headset by late 2025, packing in a new M5 chip but keeping most features familiar.
Production is set for later this year, aiming for up to 200,000 units. But that's just the start—Apple has bigger XR plans ahead.
Vision Air and smart glasses coming in 2027
In 2027, Apple plans to drop the Vision Air—a lighter (over 40% less weight), more affordable headset made from plastic and magnesium alloy, running on an iPhone-level chip.
Expected price? Between $1,500 and $2,000.
The same year could also see non-display smart glasses that record audio/video and use AI for cool features like environmental sensing.
Vision Pro vs upcoming devices
While the Vision Pro stays top-tier, upcoming devices like Vision Air and smart glasses focus on being lighter and easier to use (and hopefully easier on your wallet).
Apple's clearly aiming to make extended reality tech feel less sci-fi—and a lot more everyday.
