Chainguard launches Athena to shield open source from AI attacks
Technology
Chainguard just rolled out Athena, a new project designed to shield open-source software from AI-powered attacks.
Backed by big names like Cisco, JPMorgan Chase, and Cloudflare, the initiative uses artificial intelligence to spot and fix security gaps before hackers can take advantage.
Athena scans code and patches
Athena's AI scans code for weak spots and helps patch them fast. The project also rolls out temporary fixes and stronger software versions while permanent solutions are in the works.
Since launch, Athena has flagged more than 20,000 issues and delivered 2,000 patches across 500 projects, and it is planning even more coordinated efforts ahead.
