Chalmers University develops bosonic quantum codes for over 1,000x speed
Quantum computing just got a major upgrade, thanks to researchers at Sweden's Chalmers University of Technology.
They have developed a new method that could make certain advanced operations more than 1,000 times faster than existing approaches.
Instead of storing information in individual qubits, the technique uses bosonic quantum codes in microwave fields, so operations finish in one cycle instead of thousands.
Method cuts electrical and cosmic-ray errors
This approach also cuts down on errors caused by electrical noise and cosmic rays, making quantum computers more dependable for tricky calculations.
It is especially promising for superconducting quantum computers (the kind Chalmers is working on), and if experiments prove successful, it could help speed up breakthroughs in AI, cryptography, and advanced problem-solving.
