Florida attorney general sues TikTok over House Bill 3 violations
Florida's attorney general is taking TikTok to court, saying the app broke state rules meant to protect kids online.
Under Florida's House Bill 3 (active since January 2025), social platforms can't let anyone under 14 sign up, and teens under 16 need a parent's OK.
The lawsuit claims TikTok still lets young users in and misrepresents the amount of violent or sexual content young users can be exposed to.
Florida seeks damages from TikTok
Florida wants TikTok to pay damages and actually follow the law.
The attorney general says TikTok "knowingly deceives parents" by exposing kids to harmful stuff.
More than 25 other state attorneys general have filed similar lawsuits, blaming apps like TikTok for addiction and mental health issues among young people, though TikTok hasn't responded yet.
