Four asteroids to safely pass by Earth next week
On October 13 and 14, 2025, four near-Earth asteroids will cruise past our planet at safe distances—ranging from about 790,000 to 3.5 million miles away.
While there's zero risk of impact, these flybys are a great opportunity for scientists to sharpen their asteroid-tracking skills and boost planetary defense research.
Closest asteroid will be about 1271379km away
The closest visitor, asteroid 2025 TV2 (about 44 feet wide), will pass by on October 13 at more than three times the distance between Earth and the Moon.
Another, slightly larger one—2025 TU1—will follow later that day.
Two more asteroids will make their approach on October 14.
Why tracking these asteroids is important
Tracking these space rocks helps scientists improve predictions about asteroid paths and prepare for any real threats down the line.
Every close pass adds valuable data that could help keep Earth safer in the future.
