Gemini's latest update can draft entire Google Docs for you
Google has rolled out a big Gemini AI update for Workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive.
Now you can whip up first drafts from scratch using prompts, and even pull in information from your files, emails, or the web.
The update dropped on March 10.
You can now ask Gemini to create presentations in Slides
Gemini can now draft documents that match your style in Docs, fill tables in Sheets with real data, and build Slides complete with images and diagrams.
In Drive, you get quick AI Overviews of files and an Ask Gemini feature to answer your questions on the spot.
The new features are rolling out to Workspace editions
The new tools are initially available to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra, and availability for other Workspace editions varies by feature and will roll out to eligible plans over time.
They're live globally for Docs, Sheets, and Slides (but Drive's new features are US English only for now).
Admins can toggle these features as needed.
Gemini is still not as powerful as Copilot or Claude
Gemini goes beyond basic editing: think full-on document creation with private interactions and enterprise-grade data protections.
While it isn't as automated as Claude Cowork or Copilot Cowork yet, its deep integration into Workspace makes everyday tasks feel a lot smoother.
