Google disables Manifest V2 ad blocker support June 30, 2026
Heads up, Chrome users: Google is officially phasing out older ad blocker extensions by switching fully to its new Manifest V3 system.
Starting June 30, 2026, with Chrome version 150, popular ad blockers like uBlock Origin that rely on the old Manifest V2 will stop working as Google disables key support features.
Manifest V2 support ends July 2026
By July 2026 (with Chrome version 151), all remaining V2 support will be gone.
Google says it's making this move because keeping the old system is getting too complicated and risky security-wise.
This shift also affects other browsers built on Chromium, like Edge and Opera, but they might choose their own timelines.
Basically, it's a big step toward newer, more secure browser extensions, but it does mean saying goodbye to some longtime favorite ad blockers.
