Google drops Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.1 for Pixel users

Technology

Google just rolled out the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.1 update, mainly to squash app startup crashes from the last beta.
Rolling out as of December 24, this small patch is available for Pixel devices like the Pixel 6 series, Fold, and Tablet.

What's new in this beta?

Beta 1 brought some handy tweaks: you can now adjust flashlight brightness in Quick Settings, remove the At a Glance widget if you want, and enjoy Samsung-style navigation button reordering.
There are also smoother folder animations, over 160 fresh Unicode emojis, and an upgraded GPU driver for better performance.

Security and what's next

This update includes the December security patch for newer Pixels—so your device stays safer while you test new features.
If you're already in the Android Beta program, you'll get it automatically.
The stable release is expected in March 2026!
