Google Home now fully supports Nest x Yale Lock
The Nest x Yale Lock, first launched in 2018, finally gets full support in the Google Home app.
Now you can manage passcodes, send guest codes by text or email, and check a 60-day history of lock activity—all from one place.
The update started rolling out in early March 2026.
New features in the latest Google Home app update
With the latest Google Home app update, you get handy features like custom notifications for each user, battery status checks, auto-lock timing tweaks, and easy one-touch locking or privacy mode.
Setup still starts with the old Nest app, but everyday controls are now right inside Google Home on both Android and iOS, making smart home life a bit simpler.
If you want something newer, check out Yale Smart Lock
The Nest x Yale Lock is now eight years old (launched in early 2018) and is being succeeded by the Yale Matter Lock; Google promises ongoing software and security updates for current owners.
If you want something newer (and still available), check out the Yale Smart Lock with Matter over Thread: it lasts up to a year on one battery and works across different smart home platforms, including Google Home.
