Google launches WeatherNext 2 for faster, more accurate weather forecasts

Google just dropped WeatherNext 2, its latest AI-powered tool for weather forecasting. This upgrade promises faster and way more accurate predictions—covering almost every weather variable out there.
With four fresh forecasts every day and up to 15 days in advance, you'll see quicker updates on Google Search and Maps.

How it works & where you'll find it

WeatherNext 2 runs on a new AI system called Functional Generative Network (FGN), which is much speedier than the old model—forecasts are ready in under a minute instead of hours.
You can check out its improved forecasts not just on Maps, but also through Earth Engine, BigQuery, and Vertex AI as part of an early access program, as well as in Gemini and Pixel Weather.
