Hackers drain millions from Iran's largest crypto exchange
Iran's largest crypto platform, Nobitex, just got hit by a major hack.
The pro-Israel group Predatory Sparrow stole over $90 million (with some reports indicating different amounts) by breaking into Nobitex's hot wallets and then sent the funds to blockchain addresses with political messages—basically "burning" the money as a statement.
Nobitex says it'll cover losses through its insurance fund
Predatory Sparrow claims Nobitex was helping finance terrorism and dodge global sanctions.
They went so far as to create wallet addresses with phrases like "FuckIRGCterrorists," which takes serious effort on the blockchain.
Most user funds are safe in cold storage, but Nobitex has paused its services for now and says it'll cover losses through its insurance fund.
This comes just after another hack on an Iranian bank, showing tensions are definitely running high.
