IAMAI challenges NHRC notice, cites May 2027 children's data rules
Technology
The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) is challenging a recent notice from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), which accused AI platforms of breaking the new Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
IAMAI says it is too soon for such action, since important rules about children's data won't even kick in until May 2027.
IAMAI cautions government against rushed rules
IAMAI has told the government that jumping the gun on regulations could make it harder for companies to follow the rules.
They also called out a supporting report for not talking to tech firms first, leading to some shaky conclusions.
The group wants clearer guidelines and warns that hasty decisions like this could slow down innovation in India's digital space.
