India to associate with €93.5bn Horizon Europe pending agreement
India and the European Union just wrapped up a big deal: India has concluded negotiations to associate with Horizon Europe, the EU's huge €93.5 billion research program.
Association is envisaged to begin in January 2027, subject to the agreement being signed and the necessary procedures being completed by both sides, after which Indian researchers will get direct access to EU funding and can work alongside European teams on projects tackling health, digital tech, climate change, and more.
It's all about teaming up to solve global problems together.
Part of joint India-EU 2030 agenda
This move is part of a bigger plan called the Joint India-EU Comprehensive Strategic Agenda to 2030, which aims to deepen ties in science and technology.
Prime Minister Modi is expected to travel to Brussels in mid-December for the formal signing of the India-EU free trade agreement that'll further connect both sides.
The EU says this partnership opens new doors for researchers and innovators from both regions, so if you're into innovation or research, keep an eye out!
