Instagram to greet users with Reels 1st in India
Technology
Instagram is trying out a new design in India that takes users straight to the Reels tab when they open the app.
This move shows just how much Instagram is betting on short videos and direct messages to keep people coming back, especially since more than 50% of the time spent on Instagram is by users watching videos.
Instagram's 'Following' tab gets 3 new options
Along with the Reels focus, Instagram is updating its "Following" tab.
Now, you can see posts from everyone you follow ("All"), just your mutual friends ("Friends"), or catch up on the latest posts in order ("Latest").
With over 400 million users in India—most spending more than half their time watching videos—these changes are clearly aimed at making scrolling and connecting even smoother.
