Technology

Japan is launching its next-gen cargo spacecraft, the HTV-X, to the International Space Station tonight at 8:00pm EDT from Tanegashima Space Center.
This marks a fresh chapter for JAXA, as the HTV-X takes over from their previous H-II Transfer Vehicle that flew missions between 2009 and 2020.

The HTV-X can haul about 5987kg of supplies

The HTV-X can haul about 5987kg of supplies and can stay in orbit for up to a year and a half after leaving the ISS.
JAXA hopes this new ship will help with future astronaut missions and even support NASA's planned Gateway station near the Moon.
With HTV-X joining SpaceX's Dragon, Russia's Progress, and Northrop Grumman's Cygnus, it shows how global teamwork keeps space exploration moving forward.
You can catch all the launch action live on Space.com or JAXA's channels an hour before liftoff!
