Jolla Phone is privacy-focused smartphone with Linux-based Sailfish OS
Jolla, the Finnish tech brand, announced in December 2025 a new smartphone running Sailfish OS 5, a Linux-based system that skips cloud tracking and puts privacy front and center.
It is available for pre-order (March 2026) at €649.
MediaTek Dimensity 7100 powers the phone
The Jolla Phone features a 6.36-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass.
It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G chip with either 8GB or 12GB RAM and starts with 256GB storage (expandable up to a huge 2TB).
There's dual SIM support and the phone measures around 158 x 74 x 9mm.
User-replaceable battery, RGB LED notifications
You get a sharp 50MP main camera plus a 13MP ultrawide on the back, and there's also a selfie cam up front.
The user-replaceable 5,500mAh battery is built for longevity.
Extras include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC support, side fingerprint sensor, and colorful RGB LED notifications.
Phone goes up against GrapheneOS, Fairphone
If you care about privacy but still want Android apps, and like the idea of fixing your own phone, the Jolla Phone is worth checking out.
It goes up against GrapheneOS (for example) and Fairphone (a repair-focused Android handset maker).
Shipping is expected to begin in September 2026 for EU and UK buyers.
