Meta's new AI tools help you avoid scams on its apps
Meta just dropped new AI tools to help spot scams and fake accounts on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
Launched/announced March 13, 2026, these features scan for things like impersonation, sketchy links, fake fans, and misleading bios, catching fraud before you get pulled in.
How the new features work
On Facebook, you'll see warnings about friend requests that seem off, like barely any mutual friends or weird locations.
WhatsApp now flags risky device-linking attempts such as requests to scan QR codes or to enter your phone number and a device-linking code.
Messenger is stepping up too: it can spot patterns like fake job offers and will suggest blocking suspicious chats.
Meta has already shut down over 150,000 scam accounts
Meta has already shut down more than 150,000 scam accounts with help from law enforcement (including 21 arrests in Thailand).
Meta did not specify a timeline for any broader ad-revenue verification goals.
