Now, you can use Word, Excel, Powerpoint in one app
  • In a bid to streamline working on the go, Microsoft has launched a new all-in-one avatar of Microsoft Office.

The service, available as a public preview on Android and iOS, makes a major upgrade for mobile users and offers Microsoft's key work-focused products - Excel, Word, and Powerpoint - under one roof.

Here's all you need to know about it.

  • Problem

Working on separate Office apps has long been the drill

  • Microsoft Office suite products, be it Word, Excel or Powerpoint, have long offered incredible capabilities for creating docs, tables, and presentations.

They all streamline work processes, but the annoying part is, users are required to download dedicated apps to get them up and running.

Now, as it turns out, the Redmond giant wants to change that with its all-in-one Office app.

  • The new Office app provides a single platform to access the Office Triforce - Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.

This not only allows you to view and edit documents, presentations, and excel sheets in the traditional way (and without running after different apps) but also offers the option to access a bunch of Microsoft-specific features to enhance the same.

  • Added features

What additional features the app offers?
  • Along with the basic features, the new Office app offers the ability to create and sign PDFs with ease.

Plus, there's a new Lens mode that employs a smartphone camera and sophisticated text recognition algorithms to turn any real-world document or table into a digital Word document or Excel spreadsheet.

The feature even comes with special sub-modes for better scanning whiteboards or documents.

  • Feature #3

Then, you can make quick edits, notes

  • Among other things, the new Office app offers options aimed at improving your workflow.

For instance, you can use the new Action pane to edit documents on the fly or the new sharing option to send them instantly.

To note, there is also an option to create quick notes and lists, much like how one does inside Google Keep.

  • Information

You can test the app now

  • The Office app is available as a preview version, but do note that the slots for the iOS release, available on Testflight, have been taken. For Android, you can download the app by heading over to https://bit.ly/34GVxrZ and following the instructions.
