Microsoft cancels Xbox handheld console development

Microsoft has decided not to make its own Xbox handheld console after all. Instead, they're putting their energy into the Xbox software platform and teaming up with other brands to create Xbox-branded handhelds. This move follows the launch of ASUS's ROG Xbox Ally—a Windows-based device with an Xbox-inspired interface that makes gaming on smaller screens feel more like a real console.
