Microsoft launches publisher content marketplace for AI training data
Microsoft just dropped the Publisher Content Marketplace (PCM), a platform where publishers can license their articles to AI developers.
Launched (announced) on February 3, 2026, PCM offers licensing deals and pays based on how much content gets used.
Big names like Business Insider and Vox Media helped shape the platform.
Publishers can set their own terms
Publishers get to set their own terms, check out performance stats, and keep full control of their work—no matter their size.
Early tests with Microsoft Copilot show that using licensed content actually makes AI responses better.
Yahoo is already on board
PCM offers a direct way for publishers to earn from paywalled or archived stories, and provides usage-based reporting and lets publishers define licensing and pricing terms.
Yahoo is already joining in, and Microsoft plans to bring even more partners on board soon.
