NASA's Christina Koch travels farther from Earth than any woman
Technology
NASA astronaut Christina Koch has officially traveled farther from Earth than any woman before, thanks to the Artemis 2 mission.
She and her crew are riding the Orion spacecraft 160,000km out, way beyond where most astronauts (especially women) have gone.
Up next: a close flyby of the Moon on April 6.
Artemis 2 may exceed 400,000km
Koch already smashed records with her 328-day spaceflight, and now she's set to help Artemis 2 possibly break Apollo 13's distance record by reaching over 400,000km from Earth.
This mission is also a big step toward landing the first woman and person of color on the Moon in future Artemis missions, plus it is testing life-support technology that will keep astronauts safe on longer trips away from home.
