NTT and OptQC are joining forces to build a next-level quantum computer with one million qubits by 2030.
Announced at NTT's R&D Forum in Tokyo, this partnership combines NTT's expertise in optical networks with OptQC's quantum tech, aiming to make powerful quantum computing more practical and accessible.

What's the plan—and why does it matter?

The project rolls out over five years: first comes research and real-world use cases, then building the tech environment, followed by scaling up from hundreds of qubits to 10,000 by 2027.
The final push is hitting that ambitious million-qubit goal.
