Oman to host world's 1st launch of Laila, the autonomous VTOL aircraft
Oman will host the first-ever operational launch for Laila—a fully autonomous, hybrid-electric VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) aircraft from Odys Aviation.
Laila will be tested across Oman's deserts, mountains, and coastlines, taking on roles like delivering supplies, helping in emergencies, and inspecting infrastructure.
What makes Laila special?
Laila doesn't need a runway thanks to its hybrid-electric engine.
It can fly up to 725km (about 724km), carry 60kg of cargo, and operate without a pilot onboard.
It's built for everything from commercial deliveries to defense missions.
Why does this matter?
This project fits right into Oman's Vision 2040 plan to boost connectivity and emergency response using new tech.
Odys Aviation aims for Laila to shape the future of cargo transport—making things faster, smarter, and greener.
